After one week, they were asked to learn exponents and scientific notations in one of the above conditions - they were placed in either uniform ability or mixed ability groups. All students had to interact with one another for problem solving, that is, no division of labor. Students could ask a teacher for help only if needed. Results: Boys outperformed girls on the whole in achievement in learning exponents and scientific notationsIn mixed groups, high ability students performed best. Medium and low performed equally well.Giving explanations: high ability > low ability studentsIntroverted students outperformed extroverted studentsExtroverted students received more explanation
