Civil Rights
Jacki Robinson was the first black man to play in the majors. He broke the color barrier in 1947. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. Is still considered today as one of the greatest players ever.
Rosa Parks started one of the largest movements against racial segregation. While riding a bus, she refused to give her seat up to a white passanger. The diversity of her civil disobedience started the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
Malcom X was a black rights extremest who was also a Muslim minister. He also was a spokesperson for the Nation of Islam. He had very extreme views and believed very much in the use of violence to get equality for blacks.
Martin Luther King was arguably the most important leaders of the American Civil Rights movement. He led the Montgomery Bus Boycott after Rosa Parks' incident on the bus.
The Little Rock Nine were the first black students to be integrated into an all white school. They attended the Little Rock Central High School. They endured tremedous amounts of torment from their white peers.
