Schindler's List"Whoever saves one life saves the world entire."
When the news of the German surrender is broadcast maintaining Schindler's safety becomes a key issue. We see the gratitude of the Jewish workers by the gift of a gold ring which has been inscribed with the words: "Whoever saves one life saves the world entire." The last image we see of Schindler is that of a distressed and broken man. He is wracked with guilt over not saving more lives. Do you think his breakdown seems in keeping with his character up to this point? Is the self-less and ego-free Schindler believable? Is this another sentimental Spielberg ending? What is made clear by the ending is that one person can make a difference. Schindler saved the lives of 600 Jews but he assured the lives of thousands more.
