Metacognition
Metacognition is the awareness of the experience of one's thinking process.
Ann Brown - in the classroom, majoring is a great example of metacognition. Students can self-select to major in topics that interest them.
Aristotle - one of the early theorists of metacognition
Metacognition is the ability to self-regulate our cognitive processes, for example: - modifying learning tools when they aren't working for us - having a sense of control over our learning process - knowing what we know, and knowing what we want to know.
