Child Labour Keynote
TaskYou work for an organisation trying to eradicate child labour; the best way to do this is to educate the public. You are to produce a Keynote presentation for your local community, informing them about child labour and products produced using child labour. Provide practical ways the community can support this important cause.ResearchFirst, read the information on the following websites and take notes in your workbook.Pay attention, there is a quiz coming up!!The Big Picture – Human Rights and Children’s RightsWorld Vision Australia - Connect - Child labourBe in the Know – Fact SheetChild LabourThen do this child labour quiz, and record your results in your inquiry book.Making the Keynote Many everyday products are produced using child labour, it is your task to inform the local community, using a Keynote Presentation, about some of these products and the issues regarding child labour. Things to remember: Consider carefully your target audience and what information you want to provide them.Clearly connect what you are saying with the images on the screen.Have a smooth transition of information from one slide to the next.Watch What's Behind the Label on the Don’t Trade Lives website. You might have to watch this at home, as it may not play at school.Research industries throughout the world that still use child labour. Inform your audience what products to support and avoid. Here are a few websites to get you started:Rugmark FoundationWorld Vision Connect - Slave to Coffee & ChocolateFair Trade Association of Australia and New ZealandChild Labour Public Education ProjectThe Ethical ConsumerAs you read these websites, if you see something that you want to include in your Keynote, make sure you write down where you got the information.Your Keynote should have ten slides (no more) and your text should be size 30. Use only one kind of slide transition, and make sure your text is easily readable (i.e. not bright pink). Too many special effects distract people from the real message. All images MUST be attributed to their source. If you didn't take the photo, you must say who did. Here are some ideas for your slides:TitleStatistics about child labourDefinition of child labourExamples of child labourExamples of products that we buy that contribute to child labour and how they do.What we can do about the situationYour iMovie about child labourYou can work in a group of two or three, but they must be someone from your computer group. When you have finished, and it is edited and close to perfect, we can put it on your blog to share with the world!
