The Great Wall
Yes, it is long. Very, very long. This part of the Great Wall is called Simatai and is located about 200 kilometers north of Beijing.
Once upon a time there was an emperor who decided that he wanted a wall that would go up a mountain. It was probably some time in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
When it comes to building walls, the Chinese don't mess around!
No wall would be complete without archery holes. From here, soldiers could shoot down on those pesky Mongols attacking from the north. Or they could throw rocks. The ladies who worked on the wall hawking stuff assured us that they never used hot oil.
