Kennedy gave the CIA permission to invade Cuba in an attempt to overthrow communist dictator Fidel Castro. The invasion, called The Bay of Pigs Invasion, was a disaster.
JFK faced the threat of a nuclear war with the Cuban Missile Crisis. The USSR was planting missiles in Communist Cuba. Kennedy blockaded the area, and waited for the Soviets to make peace.The Soviets soon began to remove the bombs from Cuba.
John F. Kennedy was assassinated while in office. Many believe that a man by the name of Lee Harvey Oswald was responsible for his death. Some however, think it was a conspiracy.
